Fall Lipstick Favourites
It’s finally October, which means it’s finally my favorite time of the year: autumn. I always get more inventive with my makeup, and really draw towards my bold lipsticks around this time. Burnt oranges, rich browns, and oxblood reds become my “jam",” so I figured I would share some of my favorites in every category (except nudes; I have an entire blog post of my favorite nude lipsticks, so click here to see those picks).
Brown: Fenty Beauty STUNNA Lip Paint in “Unveil”: I know you’re probably thinking, “That lipstick has only been out for about a week; how does she already claim it’s a favorite?” Well, the main reason is that I’ve already tried the formula in the shade “Uncensored",” and if you’ve been around my blog, YouTube, and other social media pages for a while, you’d know “Uncensored” is my favorite red lipstick ever. I love that the formula doesn’t dry down all the way and make the lips feel like a desert, but that the color still stays on throughout the day. The formula is nearly the exact same for “Unveil,” even though I do believe it wears off a little bit more than “Uncensored” does. It’s the perfect chocolate brown though; it’s not too red-toned but also not too warm and yellow-tone. It’s vampy without being overdramatic. And it’s replaced every single one of my brown lipstick favorites of the past.
Orange: Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in “Arrowroot”: If you watched my most recent haul video on YouTube, you’d know how much struggle I’ve had in finding the perfect burnt orange lipstick for my skin tone. When I buy orange lip products, they’re either a warm-toned red or a bright orange/coral. This one finally hits the mark as far as actually being a burnt orange. I’m also in love with this formula. It’s not a matte liquid lipstick; it'‘s a cream lipstick in a tube essentially. Even though it doesn’t dry down and transfers on silver-wear and cups, it somehow lasts throughout the day, as I always end up with nearly full pigment on my lips when I’m ready to take off my makeup. I hardly ever have to reapply during the day. I’ll definitely be picking up more of this formula during next month’s Sephora VIB Sale!
Red: Too Faced Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick in “Stop Traffic”: My friend, Holly, described the color of this lipstick best - a “grown-up red.” The official Sephora.com description of it is a “wine red,” though I believe it leans more on the oxblood side. Either way, this is the older sister to your classic red lipstick - she’s edgier, she’s more mature, and she’s ready to conquer the world. This formula is a pretty great one as well. It’s a traditional lipstick bullet with cute peaches embossed on the sides. This formula is more matte than the Bite Beauty lipstick described above, but it’s just as long-wearing despite it being a traditional lipstick. I would recommend a lip liner with this though, as I know the shape of any bullet gives me quite a bit of trouble.
Purple: NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in “Vintage”: I’d call this lipstick an “everyday purple.” It’s not super dark and vampy, but it’s a notch up from a neutral mauve shade. It has a wine undertone as well, which makes my teeth appear a little whiter than other purples can sometimes make them look. (Maybe since purple is across from yellow on the color wheel, purple lipsticks bring out the dinginess of teeth? I don’t know, just a random rambling.) This formula isn’t my favorite, as it tends to wear off in the middle of my lip and reapplication can make it look a little crumbly, but it’s a comfortable matte formula for all my lovelies with drier lips this season.
I hope this post was helpful for you lovelies; now go out there an rock some bold lip colors!
Write you little lovelies later,
XO Ky M.
