How I Style: Athleisure

The “Athlesuire” style has been all the rage lately and I can’t exactly say I’m opposed to athletic-wear becoming the epitome of “trendy fashion.” I don’t love following trends, but considering I wore sweatpants and tee shirts every day the whole of my sophomore year in high school, wearing athletic wear as everyday clothing is something I can get behind. I can finally wear my sweatpants and sneakers in peace!  Thus, for today’s blog post, I curated three different outfits embodying this style, ranging from super casual to a “night with the girls” fit.

Outfit 1: This is definitely the most cool and casual of the bunch, but still doesn’t look frumpy (which is how this style can sometimes end up looking, even on a “fashionista” like me). I used a basic Forever 21 white tee shirt, but since it fits a little looser than I would like it to, I tied up the front to make it a crop top. This allows for my curves to be shown off instead of hidden behind baggy layers of fabric. I paired the top with these grey Marvel joggers; I found these at Burlington Coat Factory, so I unfortunately don’t have a link to these, but any pair of joggers would do. I hike them up a bit to make them more high-waisted, and that helps them to fit a little tighter on my legs and booty so they look more defined. I also like that pulling them up shows off a little ankle. Finally, I put on a pair of classic white Converse sneakers. I know these are sort of “played out,” but I’ve always been a Chucks type of gal, so they’re a permanent staple in my wardrobe.

Outfit 2: Excuse how much I show off my butt in these photos…but this outfit just makes my figure look nearly perfect! This is an outfit that can be dressed up or dressed down, but since I’m all about comfort, I dressed it down. This two-piece set is a pretty popular one from Fashion Nova (they have different colors and styles of these for literally anyone and everyone). I know some people have beef with them because they’ve had orders not ship, bad customer service experiences, etc., but I’ve ordered from them a couple of times and so far, I’ve always gotten what I ordered (knock on wood). I actually have another order coming in from them tonight, so I’ll update this post if any fishy business occurs. Anyway, I like this set because I can match them together without it seeming like matchy-overload, but I also often wear these two pieces separately if I’m feeling a different style. Together, though, they’re reminiscent of Adidas tracksuits, and they’re just as comfortable as I imagine the Adidas ones to be. To top off this outfit, I added these Nike Air Max Thea sneakers my boyfriend got me for Christmas (linked in the previous outfits post). Overall, this outfit is just so versatile – I’ve gone on day dates in it, to the gym in it, and to Topgolf in it, and it’s perfection every single time!

Outfit 3: I wore this outfit out to a girl’s night in Atlanta, and I got so many compliments on it that I decided to throw it in here as well (yes, I’m an outfit repeater…no judging). This fit definitely gives me “Instagram Baddie” vibes, and I’ve seen so many IG models and baddies wearing something similar. First up is this hoodie dress from Forever 21. I believe this is supposed to be just a regular hoodie, but I bought mine in a size large so that it fits like a dress. It was on clearance and I can’t find this exact hoodie online, but purchasing a men’s hoodie will give the exact same effect. This style of dress does look a little boxy on the body, which isn’t the most flattering for those of us with hourglass or pear-shaped bodies, but it’s great if you plan on eating a lot of food and don’t want that food baby to show. A corset belt could be added for more shape in the waist, but I absolutely hate that style personally. I wore the same black booties you all have seen styled in every single outfits post so far; I promise one day I’m going to buy another pair so I can switch things up! Finally, I topped the look off with plain silver hoops – an essential to making any “baddie” outfit a “baddie” outfit.

That’s’ all for today, lovelies! I hope you all enjoyed the outfits in this post and definitely let me know on my Instagram whether or not you “steal” my style. Also, don’t forget that I have a giveaway ongoing for the Morphe X Bretman Babe In Paradise Highlighter Palette. Details are on my review post of that palette.

Write you little lovelies later,

XO Ky M.
